Following a fire that destroyed a large part of the
production area including the main electrical
installation, the remaining facility is currently being
operated by a temporary power supply. Star M&E
Solutions (SMES) have installed new main
switchgear and distribution cables to serve the
existing equipment on site.
The planning and controlled isolation to the electricity
supplies to the office, factory buildings and
temporary buildings were a key element to the
successful completion of the project.
SMES carefully planned the shutdowns and
switching required keeping the duration of
disconnection to a minimum. A temporary 800kva
generator set for the duration of the works acted as
an alternative source of power whilst the changeover
of supplies from the existing substation and trailer
was made to the new substation.
