Star M&E Solutions keeps homeless shelter warm at night

The Green Lane Assessment Centre that provides night shelter and emergency accommodation for homeless families and single vulnerable people has relied on Star Mechanical & Electrical Solutions to provide a full mechanical and electrical service for their new building.

The Assessment centre that operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, also required the installation of high level security systems throughout the whole building. According to company managing director Mark Pennington, "it was essential to equip the centre with full mechanical and electrical systems inclusive of CCTV, access control, nurse call and staff attack systems, all controlled via the BMS system".

In addition, Star M&E also installed intelligent systems for the heating, lighting, hot water and ventilation of the building's communal areas, kitchen facilities and 30 rooms of the building including five double rooms. These have been set to achieve maximum efficiency over the life of the building.
