Star Mechanical and Electrical Solutions has successfully carried out the installation of all the mechanical and electrical services at the National Lottery funded new built Chellaston Library in Derby.
Star M&E Solutions worked as a subcontractor appointed by the Derby City Council to install, connect, test, commission and set to work the complete installation of the services mechanical and electrical services throughout the whole building.
The works included BMS control panels for heating and hot water provision, installation of the heating systems providing low carbon emissions and a renewable heat source, as well as the installation of solar and natural ventilation at key parts of the building eliminating the use of electric lighting through daylight hours. To further enhance energy savings Star M&E solutions also used automatic switching, based on minimum Lux levels.
Mark Pennington, Managing Director of Star M&E Solutions explained that "all the required services for the building consisting of distribution switchgear, small power distribution, lighting systems, fire detection and data systems, alarms, low temperature hot water heating, ventilation systems, BMS control panels, and plumbing and sanitary ware were integrated together through effective and intelligent installation of systems to optimise building performance.
The new Chellaston Library is now open to the public and provides services to more than 14,000 people.
